Whether you are interested in writing a book for the Computing: The Human Experience series or are already officially on board, you’ve definitely come to the right place.
Thanks for taking the time to check in!
About the Computing Series
Computing: The Human Experience is a transmedia project, which means we are telling the story of computing through our broadcast series, this web site, apps, and a series of books. We’ve partnered with O’Reilly Media for a series of books on computing and the human experience. This series will have a distinctive look and feel that will set it apart.
The purpose of this series is to open the curtain on computing for the general public as to the science, the events, the inventions, and the people of computing, especially as it relates to implications for the human experience. For example, books about women in computing, biographies (and autobiographies), the future of computing, how computing has impacted third world countries or minority groups, how computing is changing our brains – all of these and more are good candidates for our consideration. We even see a place for books directed to seniors who might have never used a computer as well as a children’s introduction to computing as part of our series.
Most importantly, we want you to think out of the box! What do you LOVE talking about? What subject is it that makes your heart leap when you find out someone wants to spend time with you to talk about it? What topic do you feel is neglected in the literature? What one thing do you think would best move forward the general public’s understanding and appreciation of computing? What are you passionate about? What matters? The topic of your book is one you will live with for years – so make sure it is something that you want to live with for years! It needs to excite and energize you – and if it does, then it will likely excite your audience!
